When to perform your spells
Waxing moon – from the new moon to the full moon. For positive magical work associated with beginnings, health, and healing, psychic awareness and increasing spells.
Full moon – Positive magic, protection and love.
Waning moon – from the full to the new moon. For decreasing or banishing magical work. Getting rid of bad habits, addictions, disease and negative thoughts.

Which day is best for your spells?
Monday – As this is ruled by the Moon then anything associated with the feminine aspect would be suitable. The home and family, also psychic development, divination and Angels.
Tuesday – Mars is the planet for Tuesday so you have masculine energies to work with. Competition, courage, defence and strength. Also anything connected with surgery.
Wednesday – Mercury’s keywords are business, communication and learning. Any spellwork connected with those, either for inspiration or understanding, would be ideal.
Thursday – Jupiter is Thursday’s planet and associated with Careers, financial gain, legal matters, success and luck.
Friday – Venus rules Friday so this is the very best day for all love spells and anything connected with the senses.
Saturday – Saturn will help with any banishing magic. It’s the day to say goodbye to something. The influences are animals, the elderly, grieving and death.
Sunday – Ruled by the Sun. This is a good day for spells connected with confidence friendship, health and success. Perhaps promotion or a new business project.

Choosing the right colour candle for your spell
White – All spellwork. Cleansing. To connect with the Spirit world.
Red – Passion, love, strength, energy, sex. Courage and protection.
Pink – Romantic love, friendship. Compassion.
Orange – Energy, learning. Motivation.
Yellow – Confidence. Communication, speech, travel and study.
Green – Money, fertility, prosperity, work.
Blue – Healing, peace. Psychic divination and happiness. Dreamwork.
Light Blue – For patience, understanding . Good health, peace and calm.
Purple – Psychic development, to open your third eye, spirituality. Power.

Dressing candles

It’s important to put some of your own energy into your chosen candle by rubbing a small amount of oil onto it.
If you imagine that the top of the candle is the north, you rub the oil downwards to halfway, then start from the south or bottom and rub upwards to the middle. While you are doing this, focus on the intention and outcome of your spell.

This transfers your energy and vibration onto the candle which becomes an extension of yourself.
